Founder Message 2025: Dr. Radha Paudel
Dr. Radha Paudel
Nurse, Author, Activist and Founder for Global South for Dignified Menstruation Meet The FounderGSCDM has officially entered its seventh year, marked by a historic milestone, the successful conclusion of a three-day International Learning Conference. The conference resulted in a 12-point Declaration, adopted by more than 140 participants representing 21 countries.
On behalf of GSCDM, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us, whether in person in Kathmandu, online, or through continued solidarity and shared commitment. I am deeply humbled and inspired by the collective energy and support, that continue to motivate and sustain our work.
For me personally, this conference represented a dream nurtured since 2015. From an institutional perspective, it has been a mission for GSCDM since 2020, following our three-day hybrid International Workshop on Dignified Menstruation in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The preparation process offered us valuable and unique experiences. In Nepal, we engaged extensively with INGOs, UN agencies, national NGOs, four key ministries (Women; Education; Water Supply; and Health), as well as the National Women Commission and the National Human Rights Commission, alongside organizations working on human rights, women’s rights, and menstrual rights through meetings in persons, online and emails. While institutional support was extremely limited, these challenges became a source of inspiration and resilience for us.
Historically, we were honored to receive a message from the Rt. Hon. Sushila Karki, marking a first of its kind. The presence of the Honorable Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Senior officials from the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, and Her Excellency Ms. Virginie Corteval, Ambassador of France, further elevated the significance of the conference. Most notably, the active engagement of the National Youth Council and MenEngage (Global) as co-organizers was exceptional and deeply impactful.
We kindly invite you to access the conference reports available on our website and social media platforms. We also warmly encourage you to reach out to us for collaboration in research, projects, campaigns, trainings, conferences, or for any inquiries and shared initiatives.
As always, GSCDM remains committed to co-creating and cultivating a culture of Dignified Menstruation at home, in schools, communities, workplaces, parliaments, and across the globe.
We look forward to continued collaboration and collective action with all of you.
Sincerely,
Radha Paudel, PhD
