Dignified Menstruation
Dignified Menstruation Symbol
Symbol of Dignified Menstruation:
Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation (GSCDM) proudly shared the symbol for dignified menstruation with the global community. It was developed by two personalities: the art was designed by the artist and illustrator Mr. Suman Maharjan and the concept was developed by Radha Paudel. Its shape is that of a drop of liquid, and the lines resemble latitude and longitude lines. Then the drop becomes the earth. More than half of the earth is painted to signify that more than half of the population on Earth is born with a uterus and ovaries. The colors are dark red, red, pink and yellow hues to represent the colors of menstrual blood over the average five days of menstruation. The logo reminds us that the universe exists and moves forward due to menstruation. In fact, menstruation is at the very root of our humanity, and the symbol of this universe.
- The liquid drop becomes the earth with the lines of latitudes and longitudes.
- The earth is painted more than 50% to signify the symbolic representation of more than half of the people who are menstruators (born with uterus and ovaries).
- The painting is colorful, which symbolises the menstrual blood from the beginning to the average days of the menstrual period.
- Menstrual blood makes it possible for this planet to exist and keeps us moving forward with the birth of non-menstruators.
- Therefore, dignified menstruation is the responsibility of all of us.
